LIttle things...

Today is "Christmas Eve Eve" My mom sent the boys a little Christmas cash this year to do with waht they please... Ronin didn't want to wait until Christmas to open his, so i let him do it friday when he was going to go hang out with some friends. He went to Target and got two pairs of colored tights, and then yesterday, we went to walgreens for something and he spent more on mud masks and scrubs and body sprays and a manicure set.... Sweet

Something that Ronin has always been is a sweetheart.
Since he was still a babe in my arms, he's had this special magic about him~
he would look at the old ladies in line at the grocery store and cast his spell.
Most of my girlfriends think very fondly of him, not that they dislike my other children, but Ronin, for one reason or another has been in hearts of our group of friends for as long as i can remember.
A goodd friend of mine who's known him since he was about 2 calls his special gift "Love Magic"
it's just this special ability he has to attract people to him.
I recieved this email today:
(i've changed the names for privacy reasons)
Maddy,
I wanted to write you you in praise of your sweet son, Ronin. He is in my daughter Andrea's class at school. Andrea is a pretty shy girl, and this year her two best friends were placed in Alex's class instead of Kate's. It has been really hard for her. Especially because their friendships have become sort of hot and cold and catty from time to time. Ardara hates all that drama, but hasn't felt like she had any other good friends to turn to instead. Yesterday Ronin gave her a thoughtful home made gift - a mint tin collaged with magazine pictures that reminded him of her. Along with it was a letter honoring her friendship. It made me cry to read it, and I can't even put in words how much it meant to Arndrea. She has told me since the beginning of the year that he was the nicest kid in the whole school and now I see why. Thanks for raising such a kind heart! Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Samantha

This made me cry.  i'm so proud to be his mom.

a little bit more....

Here is my son with my niece last October enjoying a yummy treat one afternoon at a coffee shop in Albuquerque.
I have spent far too much time thinking about this blog than actually doing it, so this is an attempt to go ahead and let it flow~
I want to begin to reflect on the past year and what raising such an amazing human being has meant to me.
Today I'm a little perturbed, because he has a school performance tonight for the section they've been doing on ancient Egypt and when i went to put my make up on this morning, i found my black eyeliner missing.  I knew he needed make up and was willing to let him take the face paints and brushes, but, he took my eyeliner without asking, so a certain someone may find himself grounded for a few days~
UGH!!!
Anyhooo....
The anniversary date of his "coming out" is approaching and i'd like to do something sweet to commerate.
maybe a nice family dinner, maybe a little gift~not sure~
Things are a bit "tight" right now, and with christmas around the corner, it may have to be smallish~
His christmas list however consists of perfumes and earrings and smelly lotions, etc....oh! and ear muffs because his ears get cold!
I'd like to get him into some sort of choral group or voice lessions in the coming year because the boy can sing and loves doing so~ it's the art form he uses most in his self expression and i'd like to nurture it as much as i can~
this post seems to be a little "all over the place", but i wanted to begin with a heartfelt attempt at getting to a little bit about us and what this blog is all about~
until next time....
~Namaste~

a pic

This is what our Halloween costumes ended up looking like~we decided to cross dress, then i did us up with 1/2 sugar skull faces~

Costumes

Halloween is a little over a week away and my 11 year old son wants to be a vampire. a girl vampire. With boobs and high heals.
This doesn't suprise me. He walks around my house in short shorts and feather'd boas and paints his nails more often than i do.
My boy...
My middle child~
He sings like Adelle, or at least tries,
and his room smells of the peach moisturizer he asked me for last summer and the Paris Hilton perfume he bought with his chore money.
In short, i am the mother of a gay tween.
He "came out" last winter.
December 29th to be exact.
29 days before his 11th birthday.
the day before his father's 39th.
This blog is the story of our journey.
